Common questions
Do I need an account to run?
No. Your local training plan, recording and history work without an account. Accounts are used for optional cloud features such as friends, rankings and Strava.
What if location access is denied?
Check location access for kayems. in your iPhone’s Settings. Background location is needed to keep recording when the app is in the background. If you choose foreground-only recording, follow the in-app guidance and keep the app open.
GPS, battery restrictions and force-quitting can interrupt recording. If a session is recovered as paused, review it before resuming. Manual run entry is available when you cannot record a route.
How do I back up or restore my history?
In You → Local data, choose Export full backup. Finish any active run first and save the file somewhere you trust: it includes private training information and routes.
Restore a backup validates your chosen file before asking you to replace the training data on this device. Export the current history first if you want to keep it. Existing .lapline backups remain supported; new files use .kayems.
A training backup does not include account sessions or Strava credentials. Signing in to a cloud account is separate from restoring local training history.
How do I stop appearing in rankings?
Open You → Community → Public profile and choose Leave public rankings. Account visibility and this device’s upload permission are separate settings. Turning off only this device’s sharing stops new submissions but does not hide results already published.
Deleting a local activity does not retract its previously published ranking totals.
How do I delete my account or local data?
For the cloud account, open You → Account → Account actions → Delete cloud account and review the confirmation. This deletes your cloud identity, profile, friendships and published results. Local training remains on this device.
For local history, open You → Local data → Delete all local training data. Export a backup first if you need one. This is a separate action from cloud-account deletion.
If a deletion cannot be confirmed, use the offered retry or contact support. Clearing a device’s sign-in is not confirmation of server deletion. Activities already uploaded to Strava must be managed in Strava.
What happens when I disconnect Strava?
Use the disconnect action in You → Strava. Disconnecting does not remove activities already uploaded to Strava. Your local run remains available if an upload fails; check the displayed status before retrying.
Strava controls the visibility of uploaded activities through your Strava privacy settings.
Reports, blocks and appeals
Use Report profile or Block profile from a runner’s actions in Rankings or Friends. You can manage blocked profiles from Friends. Blocking removes the friendship; unblocking does not recreate it.
The app’s owner handles moderation. For an appeal or a concern you cannot report in the app, email kayems@halfwoods.com with the public username and a short explanation. See our community guidance.
Privacy requests
For questions about access, correction or deletion, email the same support address. We may need to verify account ownership before changing cloud information. Review the in-app privacy choices.
